Girls Cricket Coordinator
With the growing popularity of female cricket, Quinns Rocks Junior Cricket Club has created the position of Female Cricket Coordinator. It gives the Club great pleasure to announce that Sophie Gerrick has been appointed to this position. With her background in education, and as the Mum of a female cricketer, Sophie brings a wealth of experience to this role.
In her role as Female Cricket Coordinator, Sophie will continue to monitor progress as the Club integrates larger numbers of females into its playing ranks, helping to ensure that the needs of girls are being adequately met by the Club.
"The Coaches, Assistant Coaches and parent helpers are in awe of the speed with which each player is developing, and how the teams are improving. The girls have a lot of fun, play hard and clearly all LOVE their cricket", she said.
The enthusiasm of the girls encouraged Sophie to complete her Cricket Australia Level 1 Coaching Accreditation during the 2017/2018 season and to become an Assistant Coach for her daughter's team, which was greatly appreciated by Team Coach, Peter Byrne.
For parents involved with the Club or who are considering if their daughter should play cricket, the Female Cricket Coordinator is someone you can speak to.
The increase in the number of girls at our Club means that we need to ensure that there is a strong voice for our female cricketers. And as a Club, we are keen to make the female cricket pathway a sustainable and long-term option for girls in our local area, and all comments, suggestions and advice would be appreciated.
If you have any questions about what is involved in the girls' competition please feel free to give Sophie a call on 0419 677 808 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
